OK, so this is a bit of self aggrandizement but I wouldn't be doing this, pursuing the path I do, if it weren't true: EVERYONE can profit from using a life coach.
I was first introduced to life coaching as a concept about 15 years ago and at the time thought 'what will they think of next'? Then the next few years contained a series of surprises and changes that led me down the road of becoming first a leadership coach, a sales coach, an in house corporate coach and trainer to where I'm at now; a provided of live and virtual coaching on a large scale basis. I am hooked on the possibility of possibility.
One of the biggest challenges of the industry, however, is that we first need to explain what life coaching is before people can take advantage of it. We need to assure them that it's practical, useful and real. The challenge is that there are a lot of life coaches out there who are 'muddying' the water and calling themselves 'coaches' when they're really consultants, therapists or worse, dilletantes looking for a 'qet rich quick' opportunity. Then there are those of us who learned our trade 'in the trenches' who are in it for the long haul, no matter what.
The trend right now isfor the two US coasts, East and West, to lead the way in this industry and, for some reason, I've seen a lot of activity for coaching in England and Australia. The midwest, where I live is following, but slowly, and progressive companies seem to be, as always, leading the way. I even have a quote I use in marketing from Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google, that says 'Hire a Coach' was one of the best pieces of advice he ever got. (Fortune Magazine, July 6, 2009).
That's not only why I publish this site and these blogsbut why I wrote the book, 'Dont Hire a Life Coach (until you read this book)'. You see for me it's not OK that those with wealth and position can have all the advantages where companies that are small or starting up have to consider coaching as a luxury ticke item. It's not OK for me that people have dreams and plans in their own daily lives that get put on hold, that they put off until they possibly don't happen at all or that people live lives of resentment or regret when there are simple, freeing and empowering tools that anyone can 'self apply'. Yes, I believe working with a coach is better than doing it yourself and I offer that as an option here, but I also believe that we should move ahead with our plans, our desires and our passions in the face of any obstacle!

It doesn't need to be anything on a grand or 'important' scale, in fact it's best to start with small things first, but I know there's something; please share it.
