The following text is taken from the Money Course materials. Since it's excerpted, you may find it a bit out of context but there's enough instruction here for you to get what we're after and for you to see the nature of materials you'd be receiving if you were taking the courses.
Try this sample exercise for a week and, if you like it, sign up, read the 'Money' section and follow the directions to take the course and have weekly lessons like this delivered right into your email. And, speaking about money, this is a FREE course!
Week One: Talking About Money -- Really
(Estimated time to complete this section: 1 hour or so of actual conversations in small 'snippets')
Talking About Money
Not to surprise, shock or overwhelm anyone but this week we’re going to get started by literally ‘talking about money’.
This week, at work, at home, on the bus or in the coffee shop ask people you know or meet what they think about money. Ask them what they ‘feel’ about money and listen to them. See if there’s anything different in what they ’think’ or what they ‘feel’ when talking about money.
Just to keep it specific: you've got one week and Your Virtual Coach challenges you to have one conversation a day, or 7 conversations in total before next week's coaching is delivered. Can't accept that challenge? YOU set the number of conversations you think is enough and then 'make it happen'.
This is the first part of your research. We’ll do more later: this week just ask and listen. As an added layer, spend some time noticing how you yourself talk about money. Seek out articles where others talk about money, online and in print. Watch news programs about money and . . . well you get it. Spend this week talking about money with as many people as you can.
Spend some time in the ‘Money’ forums seeing what others in the process are learning and discussing.
